HMT Lord Wakefield
![]() The Lord Wakefield was an anti submarine trawler (Hull Trawler) which was lost on 29th July 1944 sunk by german aircraft off Omaha Beach, France 23 days after D Day. Loss of 34 crew. A recent tv programme (July 2014) showed a team doing a sonar survey of the normandy beaches and they identified over 500 different objects on the sea bed. Included in the images, and was dived on, is a sunken HM Trawler. This is marked, in error, as Dragon, a polish destroyer, it is definitely an HMT, pssible Lord Wakefield. http://uboat.net/allies/
